The Global Media Research Center has a small conference room equipped with a smart desk and projector. The smart desk has internet and satellite television access. The room can accommodate a class or meeting of about twelve people comfortably. Wireless internet access is also available in this space.
As indicated, the Center has satellite connection with access to a wide variety of stations. International signals can be accessed upon request, allowing students and faculty to record and research international broadcasting. To date, this service has been utilized to research programming from Bangladesh, Italy, and Thailand. Satellite programs recorded on the DVR can be transferred to VHS tape.
There is also office space at the Center equipped with computers and internet access; one of these spaces will accommodate two occupants, while the other is set up for single occupancy. These offices are used by GMRC fellows, visiting researchers, and graduate students.
Arrangements to use any of the GMRC facilities are made by contacting the Center's Director, Dr. John Downing, or the administrative assistant, Laura Germann.
